Formerly Waikato Catchment Ecological Enhancement Trust (WCEET), Regen Waikato was established by Mercury on 15th October 2002 to foster and enhance the sustainable management of ecological resources in the Lake Taupō and Waikato River Catchment.
20+ years later, Regen Waikato are committed to collaboration that inspires action, drives positive change and enables improvement where it matters most.
At Regen Waikato we deliver positive outcomes for the ecology of the Lake Taupō and Waikato River Catchment by:
Enhancing and maintaining wetland values
Enhancing and maintaining indigenous biodiversity
Enhancing and maintaining the sports fishery and game bird population
Mitigating any adverse effects of the operation of the Waikato Hydro Scheme on the ecology
Working to deliver positive outcomes
